PROGRESS... 2010
We look to be proactive in taking on several improvement projects this year.
DAM CLEAN-UP / STREAM BANK REPAIR
UPDATE 2/3/10: A special meeting of the Association was held on Monday, February 1st (7:00pm) in the club house. The purpose was to explain the arrangements and consider comment from interested members for the dam clean-out / stream bank repair project.
An overview (narrative) of the project plan has been posted in the club house. This covers the step by step process required per the permits. Such as the protection of the flow of Stoney Run which runs through the dam, pipes required to prevent vehicles from entering the water (Stoney Run) as it leaves the dam and procedures for erosion and sediment (E&S Plan) control at the dam site and the disposal site.
A contractor with experience working in waterway type projects and E&S situations has been retained. Work will begin as soon as water levels (from the recent heavy rain) drop.
Approval (permits) has been given by the US Army Corp of Engineers, Schuylkill Conservation District and the PA Fish & Boat Commission for the dam clean-out and sediment (E&S) control plan.
PA DEP permits for the stream bank repair are still pending as of this writing. But, would not be required until the final phase of this project.
The goal is to have the work completed prior to opening day of the 2010 trout season; weather and conditions permitting.
Otherwise there may be a delay in opening the Trout season at the dam. Stocking of the creek is anticipated to begin on time (Opening Day) regardless of the project status. That situation will be address as the time frame for completion becomes clearer.
We will continue to keep you up to date on this site as the project begins.
RULE / REGULATION SIGNS
Signs (rules & regulations) have been received for the shooting range and the picnic grove. If you have the time and skill; we can use your help with installing them. This can be done as part of our annual Spring Work Party or as an independant project should you prefer.
DUES REMINDER
Dues for the current year were to have been paid by December 31st, 2009. As of now; members not paid have lost their membership priviliges. The By-Laws provide for a limited grace period to pay and retain membership in the Association. If dues are not paid by the February regular meeting of the Association.... termination will result.
Those members terminated will need to reapply and pay initiation fees. (note that regular membership is currently closed and readmission won't be considered until the category is reopened per the By-Laws). Do check with family or friends that may have overlooked their obligation.
